ChatGPT Accused of Involvement in Murder
On August 3, 2025, 56-year-old Stein-Erik Solberg murdered his 83-year-old mother, Susan, before committing suicide. Solberg had been conversing with the chatbot regarding his fears that he was being followed through his home printer and that his mother was trying to poison him. Instead of questioning his irrational fears, the chatbot confirmed them, leading to the tragic event. Susan’s family has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft. This is the first case where an AI model has been publicly accused of involvement in a murder, rather than just suicide.
Baby Optimization
Advertisements from the company Nucleus Genomics recently appeared in the New York City subway, sparking a public and ethical storm. The ads offered future parents the chance to “optimize” their babies’ genetics by signing up for an $8,999 genetic testing service. The company offers to sequence the full DNA of up to 20 embryos for couples undergoing IVF. This allows parents to screen embryos for known diseases, conditions like autism and ADHD, and even traits such as eye color, height, and intelligence. Genetic experts argue that the primary issue with the Nucleus approach is the lack of sufficient scientific evidence. While some countries allow for the selection of certain traits—and many parents naturally want their children to be healthy and successful—this development raises significant questions.
Bionic Bird and Flying Fox
The company Lumina Tech has introduced two advanced biomimetic (nature-inspired) aerial systems:
-
Bionic Bird: Compact and agile, it excels at navigating tight spaces such as dense vegetation and industrial areas.
-
Bionic Flying Fox: Featuring a larger wingspan and high endurance, it is built for long-range missions and can carry additional payloads.
These robots are equipped with sensors and processing units that analyze data in real-time using advanced AI models. This allows them to identify and classify various objects—from humans and vehicles to structural cracks.
Is the End of the World Near?
While most people invest in real estate or look for an apartment or shop for investment, AI billionaires are investing massive fortunes in the underground bunker market. They are reportedly preparing escape plans in case Artificial Intelligence loses control.
An End to the Language Barrier
Google has released a new real-time audio translation feature powered by Gemini, compatible with all types of headphones. The feature, currently in beta, preserves the original speaker’s tone and speech rhythm to make translations sound more realistic.
How AI Integrates into Our Lives
Microsoft published a report analyzing approximately 37.5 million anonymous conversations with Copilot to understand how the tool fits into users’ daily lives. The report shows that Copilot has become much more than just a work tool; users are turning to it for health and wellness advice, coding help, and personal guidance, including relationship management.
Robot Police Officer
A 1.8-meter-tall humanoid police robot has been deployed at one of the busiest crosswalks in Hangzhou, eastern China. The robot directs pedestrian and vehicle traffic and identifies traffic violations in real-time using cameras and AI systems.
Robotic Dancers
Unitree’s G1 humanoid robots stole the show during Chinese singer Wang Leehom’s performance in Chengdu. The robots performed choreographed dance moves in perfect synchronization with human dancers.
